From one over-thinker to another, I want to let you in on the inner workings of my mind and strategies for reminding my thoughts that they aren’t my boss.

From the conversations that stay in my head, to the ones I have out loud, here’s a glimpse into my own self-discovery process- one that is often filled with a rigid inner-critic saying, “You can’t say (or do) that!” I’ve spent a lot of time following my brain’s rigid rules, only to realize that does not quiet them. It makes them LOUDER. When I listen to that “rule” that says, “Avoid doing that thing because you might make a mistake and that will feel terrible,” I end up feeling more terrible…and I also haven’t done that thing then either! So, here I am, just thinking about thinking, breaking all the rules of my mind, and remembering that my thoughts are mine, but not me.
